Colin Qi

President of the Music and Arts Association of Singapore | Renowned Lyricist, Music Producer, and Music Educator

Renowned lyricist, music producer, music educator, and researcher of Chinese pop music culture in Singapore, and one of the important pioneers of the Singapore New Ballad Movement. For over 40 years, he has been active in the fields of Chinese music creation, education, and cultural promotion, and has had a profound influence in Singapore and the Chinese music industry.

He currently serves as President of the Music and Arts Association of Singapore (2026–), Dean of RSI Star Music Academy (2025–), and President of the Singapore Branch of the Global Chinese Pop Music Association. He is also an advisor to the Malaysian Arts Education Association, a judge for the ASEAN Influence Awards in Singapore, and a permanent member of the Composers and Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS).

Since 1982, he has been involved in promoting the Singapore New Ballad Movement and has long been engaged in historical research and cultural preservation of Chinese pop music. He actively promotes international cultural exchanges, has served as a judge for numerous international and regional music competitions, and has been invited as a guest lecturer at institutions including the Sichuan Conservatory of Music. In 2020, he curated the “Heart to Heart Art Exhibition” to foster cross-border integration of music and art.
