Tomorrow Will Still Be Bright
This is a Xinyao concert held by the Merlion Xinyao Group on July 30, 1983, at Jinwen Secondary School.
All proceeds went to the Clementi Community Centre’s establishment fund.
In addition to the Merlion Xinyao Group presenting eight original works, the performance also featured groups such as Er Yi Group, Si Ji Group, Wu Xian Pu Group, and Lang Tao Sha Group.
The group was also interviewed that evening by the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) current affairs program (Focus 30 Minutes).
This is currently the only surviving and precious historical record of a Xinyao performance.
This precious video recording comes from the foresight of Merlion member Qi Zhequan’s mother, who funded its production.
